What wine goes with my food?

Well, Domaine Hatzimichalis is here to help you!

For many, food and drink are some of the greatest joys of life and really, how good would life be without those joys?

All of us foodies know that a delicious dinner can make our day, especially when it is accompanied by a good wine. Whether dining alone or with loved ones, a glass of fine wine adds a spark to the meal.

And all of us chefs, we know that once we have given all our love and time to creating the perfect meal, we owe it to ourselves to choose the perfect wine for pairing.

Now, let's answer the question "what wine goes with my food?" To do so, we are here with our favorite Greek wines from the collection of Domaine Hatzimichalis that go perfectly with different foods:

1. Beef BBQ - Cabernet Sauvignon

The king of BBQ, beef, has many cuts suitable for grilling: steak (porterhouse, rib eye, tomahawk), fillet, ribs, round slices, and more. If you want to enjoy your barbecue meal with a nice wine, combine it with the excellent Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine Hatzimichalis. It is a wine with a full body, intense acidity, and with an aftertaste of fruit and pepper that perfectly embraces the grilled meat. Enjoy it ideally at 15-18 ° C.

2. Pork - "Kapnias" White

Not in the mood for beef? Well, pork will certainly not disappoint you. There are pork chops, pork belly, pork loin, ribs, bacon, and more that are all suitable for the grill or the oven. And the wine that goes best with white meats? That would be our always delicious Kapnias White. With its intense flavor palette, this wine is buttery with an obvious aroma of wood and toast, mixed with tropical fruits and pear. Enjoy it ideally at 10-13ºC.

3. Carbonara – Chardonnay Yerakofolia vineyard

Italy may have had its day this year after winning the Euro, however there is a classic Italian recipe that has its day EVERY day. Of course, we are talking about carbonara (without heavy cream of course), a traditional Italian pasta dish. The next time you try it at home or while dining out, combine it with a glass of Chardonnay from the Yerakofolia vineyard. This is a unique white wine with aromas of bread, butter, vanilla, wood, nutmeg, and roasted nuts, with an underlying fruity character that makes its texture unforgettable.

4. Shrimp Pasta - Alfega Rose

Let's move on from the carbonara, because maybe you are looking for a dish more suitable for summer, such as shrimp pasta. Topped with lots of grated cheese of course, you can pair this plate with a bottle of Alfega Rosé wine from Domaine Hatzimichalis. Although intensely fruity with a refreshing character, this wine is mild as you taste it, leaving a perfect aftertaste reminiscent of strawberry and red raspberry.

5. Seafood - Assyrtiko Alepotrypa vineyard

As we prepare for our summer vacations, we cannot forget about seafood! Who here has not associated the summer with a table full of good company and summer delicacies? From fried calamari to grilled octopus, or from squid to shellfish, and even shrimp and lobster...there is so much to choose from! But most importantly, your seafood meal is not complete without a delicious white wine, such as the Assyrtiko Alepotrypa from Domaine Hatzimichalis. The intense aromas of citrus acidity and white flowers combine excellently with notes of wet sea pebbles, and will go perfectly with your seafood dinner.

6. Sushi - Sauvignon Blanc Kryovrisi vineyard

For those who love sushi but find it difficult to find a wine that matches its special flavors, there is finally a wine to solve this conundrum. Whether you prefer the simplicity of sashimi or more complex rolls, the only sure thing is that a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from the Kryovrisi vineyard of Domaine Hatzimichalis will pair incredibly with your sushi meal. It is a white wine with a strong aromatic character of fruit, zest, white flowers, and herbs. Its crisp acidity and mild body gives liveliness and a pleasant aftertaste that elegantly pairs with the taste of sushi.
