Wine Varieties

A wine as elegant as its bottle. This Merlot is collected from an isolated vineyard in Atalanti Valley, Alargino. With no water irrigation and low yields the grapes we collect are high concentrated and full of taste. This prestigious wine is being kept for 12 months in french oak barriques and another 12 in the bottle to rest. The jamminess feeling along with the complexity of the flavors will satisfy you to the fullest. But do not rush, this wine can be aged for 25-30 years since its vintage.

  • Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Atalanti Valley

  • Classic red vinification followed by 12 month maturation in new 228lt French oak barriques under controlled temperature. Afterwards, it remains in our underground cellars to age for another 12 months in the bottle.

  • This Merlot is cultivated at our distinguished vineyard, Alargino (literally meaning “the furthest away.’’) At an altitude of 320 – 350 meters and and an average of 20 years old vines, this vineyard, produces very low yields of Merlot (3500kg/ha) and highly concentrated grapes.

  • Nose

Pronounced aromas of black fruits including blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, then Kirsch, violet, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. Ageing brings some tertiaty aromas such as leather and tobacco.

    Palate

A very complex but still balanced wine. Baked fruits and liquorice balance well with the dominant black fruits. Full body, low tannins, and long finish. Delicate but still expressive wine. After ageing, tertiary flavours such as prune, mushrooms and vegetal notes start to appear.
